The second of three race weekends in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Central Europe 2020 taking place at the famous Salzburgring. For the first time, the entire race day will be presented via live stream. The stream will be produced by the experienced Kart-Data TV crew. Marc Wurzinger (known from the Formula 1 broadcasts on ORF) will be commenting the race day together with experts Robert Lechner and Jakob Schober. You can follow all the action from the qualifying sessions, both sprint races and the 100 Miles of Austria. Broadcasting starts on Saturday, 22nd of August at 8h20 on www.porschesprintchallenge.com
Experience is everything
The Summer Festival is also the home round for the one-make series with the new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport: The headquarters of organizer Lechner Racing is only a few kilometres away from the Salzburgring, making the track well known to the team. This experience should also help the drivers to master the 4.3-kilometre-long traditional and courageous circuit as quickly as possible. Tasty local cuisine and summer beats in the PSCCE hospitality area will give the drivers new energy between the sessions.
Sporting Overview
Sascha Halek (AUT, PZWNRacing) arrives at the Salzburgring as the leader of the standings. In 2019 Halek won his first PSCCE race as a guest entrant at this track. He is followed by Frederick Jerich (AUT) and Jan Antoszewski (POL) from Junior Team Central Europe, both being only two points behind. In 4th place overall is newcomer Edwin Waldhier (GER). He also comes to Salzburg with good omens, having won the "Super Racer" casting here just a few weeks ago and therefore securing his PSCCE entry. Together with Jonas Greif (GER) Waldhier will also try to defend his lead in the Endurance classification. One thing is for sure: There will be a fight for every point on the table up to the finish line, because at the end of the season only the three best race results count for the overall classification.
Robert Lechner (Sporting Director PSCCE):
"The name Lechner is closely linked to the Salzburgring. Walter (Lechner Jr., note) and I grew up not far from the track, so we look back on many great memories. Being able to add new unforgettable moments with the PSCCE has a special sentimental value for us. A big thanks to Porsche Austria, who are supporting us in this effort.”
Walter Lechner Jr. (Technical Director PSCCE):
"The Lechner headquarters in Thalgau are only a few kilometres away from the circuit, so the logistics are easier here. Most employees can even sleep in their own beds. I am especially pleased that we will be able to present a larger starting grid at the Summer Festival.”
